Flexible assembly of fan wheels

Fan wheels of different shapes and sizes are taken out of a magazine by a FANUC six-armed robot, aligned and set down on the blower motor. In order to achieve a short machine cycle time, the six-armed robot pushes the workpiece carrier with the fan wheel to the second robot (BOSCH Turbo-Scara) over the moving conveyer belt. The two robots communicate with each other and are programmed to avoid the workpieces colliding with each other despite their working areas overlapping. The second robot uses 3 or 4 screws to bolt the two parts together, depending on the type and pitch circle diameter.

At this station, wiper blades are fitted with end clips of different types. First the clips are separated and, following visual inspection of the correct position by an EPSON-Scara robot, are then placed in driven nests.
